Classical furniture for European homes: plan the room and the route
For a city apartment or a larger home, a furniture plan must include the route inside as well as the final room.

Planning classical furniture for a European home begins with the building as well as the room. A sofa that fits a floor plan may still face a difficult stair turn; a dining cabinet may need space to open without interrupting the route between rooms. Check both before you settle on a complete set.
This guide is for buyers in Europe considering AVELOR’s classical furniture. Share the actual country and address details in your enquiry. Europe is not one delivery market, and a quotation for one destination does not establish arrangements for another.
Draw the room you have
Measure usable wall lengths and mark door swings, windows, heating fixtures and fixed storage. Add the furniture that will remain. In an open-plan home, mark the walking route between living and dining areas before filling both spaces with a coordinated collection.
Use one measurement unit throughout the first drawing. Record overall furniture dimensions separately from usable seating or storage dimensions. If a drawing arrives in a different unit, convert and label it before comparing positions.
Check the shared building route
For an apartment, measure the building entrance, corridor, stair width, landings, lift door and cabin. Ask whether a service lift is available and who can book it. Do not assume a piece can be taken apart: request confirmation of detachable parts and packed dimensions for the selected model.
Ethan Allen’s furniture-delivery measuring guide is a useful visual reference for identifying obstacles. Share route photographs with the delivery team and ask them to assess the actual packed pieces. A single clear doorway does not prove the whole route will work.
Plan a coordinated room in stages
Start with the primary sofa or dining table, then add the chairs, occasional tables and storage that the room needs. Compare the full footprint after every addition. A coherent classical interior can use a few decorative pieces with space around them; a complete photographed arrangement is not a requirement.
Use the dining-room measuring guide to check the relationship between chairs, storage and circulation. For connected rooms, the dining-set coordination article helps you repeat a finish or colour without crowding both areas.
Ask for the exact destination scope
Tell AVELOR whether your destination is in the EU, the UK or another European market. Ask the quotation to identify the furniture, packaging, transport, insurance and receiving services that apply. Have the responsible freight or customs professional confirm any destination formalities and charges for the proposed goods.
UK buyers can use the UK government’s guidance on goods sent from abroad as a starting point for customs questions. Other destinations need their own current official guidance. Keep the seller’s proposal and the receiver’s responsibilities explicit rather than assuming that a quoted shipping amount includes everything.
Agree the receiving appointment
Discuss vehicle access, unloading space, floor level, building bookings and who will be present. Where a separate installer is needed, coordinate its timing with the actual delivery arrangement. Confirm whether unpacking, assembly and packaging removal are included or require another service.
If the order is for a second home or a renovation, name the person authorised to receive the goods. Give that person the item schedule and the agreed process for recording and reporting any issue.
A useful European home brief
- Country, city and postcode; personal home or professional project.
- Room plan and the furniture you intend to retain.
- Model references and quantities for the shortlisted set.
- Stair, landing and lift measurements with photographs.
- Building access and receiving requirements.
- Preferred finishes, budget and desired timing.
Compare Nida, Riva and Sultan using the same brief, then request a quotation. Availability and delivery feasibility are confirmed for the selected pieces and destination.
